Founded in January 2025 in Augsburg, Germany, Astra Labs GmbH was born from a desire to
revolutionize safety-critical software development through automation. Our founders, seasoned
software engineers, recognized that manual documentation was a major bottleneck in the industry.
This insight led us to focus on accelerating development by automating tedious documentation
tasks and reinforcing best practices throughout the development process.

Mark Melczer
Co-founder & CTO
Software Developer
Mark, an aerospace engineer with an MSc. degree obtained from TU Delft, loves researching difficult technical problems and diving into deep tech. While working at research institutes and start-ups he built drone flight control software and privacy-preserving algorithms in Rust, with a great emphasis on security and safety. Having become a Rust developer team lead and head of research, he aspires to build aerospace-grade software without compromises to safety.
Dominik Kerschat
Co-founder & CEO
Avionics & MBSE Expert
Besides being a talented systems and avionics engineer, Dominik develops software and hardware for UAVs. Model based systems engineering methodology can also be applied to software development. His goal is to make software development easier without compromising safety by developing automation tools. He is finishing his master's studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida, USA.
